Abbey of San Giulio - L’Abbazia di San Giulio

Let us walk hand in hand
along the way of silence,
silently then we can listen
to the Master’s counsel,
silently will it sink into our hearts,
that distilled sense of wisdom.

Shall we walk heart with heart
contemplating with mindfulness every moment
a mindfulness  that brings you to the “ Here and Now”
Leading  us onwards in the Path
that abandons the “ I “ and the “ Mine”

a transformation process  of dispassion,
till we arrive in total liberation.

These two roads are in Truth the same
a circuit that encircles an abbey of nuns
in the Island of San Giulio, in the lake of Orta,
high and thick walls isolate them from the rest of the world,
a fortress or prison depending on how you see it
and if the words they say are truly what they feel,
and that kind presence I feel is real,
then within that sanctuary
great battles are raging,
bullets flying
bombs pounding.
locked up in a place like this,
it is a do or die,
Nibbana or bust  situation,
there can be no compromise with the armies of Mara!

Isola San Giulio, Italy

Camminiamo mano nella mano
lungo la via del Silenzio,
possiamo così ascoltare
il consiglio del Maestro,
silenziosamente penetrerà nei nostri cuori
quel distillato senso di saggezza.

Camminiamo unendo nostri cuori
contemplando consapevolmente ogni momento

allora dentro quel santuario stanno combattendo grandi battaglie.
pallottole vaganti
bombe martellanti.

Rinchiusi in un posto come questo,
si tratta di vita o di morte,
Nibbana o fallimento,
